When in New York...

For some reason I am feeling nostalgic and it's because I looked at the pictures of me in New York. Let's be honest, if you know me, you know just how much New York means to me. It's a staple in my childhood, but also where my mother was born and raised. I think I might love New York more than my mom does, but that's up for debate. So instead of publishing my long dreaded Valentine's Day blog, watching Bridget Jones's Diary, or trying to read my boring Media Law textbook or even doing all three simultaneously. I decided to write a blog about what to do in New York, some of these may only apply to me. I will also be writing what I want to do in the future. Enjoy the pictures.

(Everyone knows I am Bridget Jones, we are one.)

Go on the Staten Island Ferry and marvel at the Statue of Liberty. It's so touristy and cliche, but makes for great pictures (unless you're me) and it's fairly cheap.

Walk around Times Square and take pictures with NYPD or in general. I usually just stare at the lights as my cousin forces me to pose for pictures. Check that little slide show above for details.

Go into the Marriott in Times Square and go to the floor where they have a restaurant overlooking where the ball drops. Pick up a menu or go to a table where somewhere has eaten. Pretend you're eating there even though you can't afford it.

Walk past NBC Studios and sigh because it would be a dream to work there. (This one is more so a me thing).

Walk through Fifth Avenue and admire the displays and maybe go into Saks. It won't hurt your wallet if you're window shopping.

Go to Wall Street, admire men in suits and take a picture with the notorious bull.

Go to Chinatown when you're in middle school and take pictures in impressive Buddhist temples, but seriously go the Buddhist temples.

Spend an hour in St. Patrick's Cathedral and admire it.

Listen to an 80's station every morning. This is more of my cousin thing, but I enjoyed drinking my coffee to 'Don't Stop Believing by Journey.'

Have an actual New York bagel.

Walk through Central Park. Like actually walk through the whole thing and go to Strawberry Fields and maybe even take a cool picture in front of John Lennon's memorial. If you're up for it go across to the street to the Dakota where Lennon was shot by a crazed fan.

If you're hungry to eat and want a quick bite in Central Park go to The Loeb Boathouse and have a nice little lunch. The view is really nice.

Eat Chinese food and pizza. I promise you can never go wrong on either. Just look at reviews before you go. I've always gone to the places closest to wherever we were and I never went wrong, but that's just me.

Go to New Jersey, realize it hasn't changed in years (or ever) and come back to New York. But, if you're stuck there go to Hamburgao. It's my favorite Brazilian burger place in Kearny.

Go to your moms house in Brooklyn and take a picture in front of it. (Again, only me). Go to Brooklyn though, there's a Beastie Boys song about it for a reason.

Listen to Africa by Toto in repeat even though you're in New York and not in Africa. In case you're wondering, I didn't forget about Alicia Keys and Jay Z listen to 'Empire State of Mind.' Let's say you do need a playlist, here's mine:

Go to Rockefeller Plaza and just enjoy the view. If you're there while it's winter please go ice skating.

Go into The Plaza Hotel and pretend to have to use the bathroom. Take a picture in front of the Marilyn Monroe frame. There's a Beatles one too.

Take the subway. No seriously, do it. Take the subway instead of a car. Traffic and driving is terrible in NY.

I dislike shopping, but the fashion in New York is amazing. Check out a Century 21 store. I got a really cute top there and they have hundreds of designer clothes at a relatively cheap price.

Finally end the day at Gino's Italian Ice and get a sweet treat. Also they have a pizzeria close by and it's pretty populated so check it out!

Honestly, I got exhausted typing and importing all those pictures, but if you want to know what I want to do when I go keep reading.

What I want to do in New York

I want to cross the Brooklyn Bridge walking.

I want to walk across the Verazano Bridge. It all involves bridges, I am sorry.

I actually would love to go to the New York Zoo and that's probably because my mom has got me hooked on Madagascar.

I want to go to The Met and just pretend I was invited to The Met Gala by Anna Wintour herself, a girl could dream.

Going to Coney Island would be really cool.

I want to hit up some bars and meet some college students from NYU or Cornell or dive bars in general.

I want to have Breakfast at Tiffany's. This is probably so cheesy, but I would really love to recreate the scene where Audrey Hepburn is eating her croissant staring at the Tiffany's display.

Last time, I passed by Serendipity. I want to actually have a frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity. I am such a sucker for romance films. Please do not judge me.

I want to go to the top of the Empire State Building.

Manhattan beach at a suitable time and weather would be pretty cool.

My heart would really love to go see a Broadway play or even a ballet.

My concert addiction is still dying to see a show at MSG. I would really like to see an artist I admire sell out MSG, also seeing a Knicks game wouldn't be so bad. I didn't get to the last several times, but I'm hopeful.

Go see the ball drop on New Years Eve and go ice skating in Rockefeller Center even though I have poor balance.

The last time I went the Brooklyn seaport seemed like a really nice place to hang out . So I'd like to check that out.

Instead of going in to Tavern on the Green to use their bathroom it would be amazing to eat there. It's a restaurant based in Central Park.

Can I please go to Greenwich to let my inner hipster heart die of happiness? Little Five Points has nothing on Greenwich. I would love to go to a little record store and book shop.

Go to Grand Central Station, even though I have done this I love it enough to go back.

See a show in Radio City Music Hall.

Enjoy Washington State Park.

This ones really lame, but I've always wanted to go to Ellis Island. It's been a dream of mine since I learned about it as a kid. My inner nerd is showing. Oops.

Take a picture in front of the Manhattan Bridge.

Finally, I'd like to go see a taping of SNL or GMA. I'd really love to see a Today Shw concert, but last time I tried to get passes I was unsuccessful. I'm still going to try again.

Thanks for listening to my long rant about New York. I hope you found this somewhat useful. Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to fit all the photos in here so if you want to see more of my New York adventure, follow me on Instagram on my homepage.

Also, if you want to take me on an all expense paid trip to be your personal tour guide, I have no problem in doing so. To end this long blog, enjoy Alicia Keys and Jay Z singing at the ball drop in Times Square.
